About the Foundation

The foundation was founded in 2004 by Rolf Luft and Kerstin Brismar at Karolinska Institutet to promote research into the causes and treatments of diabetes and its complications, as well as to support education in the field. The foundation grants the Rolf Luft Award, one of the world’s most prestigious awards in diabetology and endocrinology, and from year 2025, also the Kerstin Brismar Award for translational research. Furthermore, young diabetes researchers are granted scholarships for travels to other research centers.
