The first video has now been posted on the foundation’s newly launched YouTube channel. Here we will share promising presentations and interesting interviews about diabetes with people from Sweden and abroad. Follow along!
In this video, the conversation continues between Professor Per-Ola Carlsson (Uppsala University), Professor Kerstin Brismar (Karolinska Institutet) and Alan Raffensperger (Chairman of the Rolf Luft Foundation for Diabetes Research). Prof. Carlsson’s pioneering research gives hope for a cure for type 1 diabetes, already in the near future, through a method where insulin-producing cells are transplanted between individuals WITHOUT immunosuppressive medications. To listen to the entire conversation and Prof. Carlsson’s presentation, see the other video on this page.
In this webinar, Professor Per-Ola Carlsson at Uppsala University shares his groundbreaking research that shows the first successful attempt to transplant insulin-producing cells between individuals without immunosuppressive medications. Thanks to this research, a patient with type 1 diabetes (without any natural insulin production) has had insulin-producing cells injected into his arm muscle and has now, after four weeks, shown positive results in terms of natural insulin production. These results provide great hope to everyone with diabetes for a future without insulin treatment and without the risk of diabetes complications. Moderator is Prof. Kerstin Brismar at Karolinska Institutet, accompanied by Alan Raffensperger, chairman of the Rolf Luft Foundation for Diabetes Research.
